EMPOWERING COMMUNICATION
At Foundations of Speech, we believe that every child deserves the power to connect, share, and be understood. We provide personalized, play-based speech therapy services that support each child’s unique strengths and learning style. Through engaging, meaningful play, we help children develop the foundational communication skills they need to connect with the world around them. Our neurodiversity-affirming approach celebrates the individuality of every child, fostering confidence and communication in ways that are functional and fun.
Serving families across Virginia’s Northern Neck, Foundations of Speech offers therapy for children from birth through 18 years old. Family involvement is at the heart of what we do—we work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that communication skills carry over into everyday routines and interactions. Whether your child is learning their first words or building complex social connections, we’re here to support their journey, every step of the way.
Speech therapy is a treatment for speech and language disorders and delays. It involves exercises and techniques that improve communication skills. Speech therapy can help individuals with a variety of conditions including speech sound disorders, stuttering, voice disorders, language disorders, language delays, and more.
Every child develops at their own pace, but there are times when extra support can make all the difference. If your child is struggling to be understood, having difficulty following directions, not using as many words as expected, or relying on gestures and behaviors instead of language, speech therapy can help.
At Foundations of Speech, we offer individualized speech therapy for children from birth through age 18. Our services include initial evaluations and recurring speech therapy appointments. We are proud to provide play-based, neurodiversity-affirming therapy that prioritizes functional communication and family involvement.
